Welcome to the Hartland Consolidated School District. Hartland is proud to call itself a “premier school of choice” school district where families choose to reside or send their children for an outstanding education.  We are proud to share that our students excel academically, as well as, in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.  The district has three 9-12 high school options (traditional, alternative, and virtual), two 7-8 middle school options (traditional and virtual), an intermediate school for grades 5-6, and four Pre-K-4 elementary schools.  In addition, we provide childcare, universal preschool, community education, and senior activities programs.

We have been updating our facilities and technology environments thanks to a generous $45,000,000 bond program approved by the community in August of 2020.  This includes the creation of new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) centers in each of our elementary schools, 5-6 building and the 7-8 building.  We added a state-of-the-art robotics center to support this growing interest and added an auxiliary stadium to better meet the needs of the community and school extracurricular and recreation activities. All our buildings are outfitted with modern technology enhancements.

The Board of Education has enthusiastically supported efforts to enhance curriculum offerings at all levels including providing instructional coaches in English language arts, mathematics, and science.  Instructional coaches provide individualized, small group, and large group professional development for teachers on best practice instruction, revised curriculum expectations, and student intervention.  This work is essential as the district operates from an intervention perspective to ensure that all children have the support necessary to be successful.  The motto “Give to all, Gains for all” guides our work to ensure this support is in place.  Efforts have resulted in an annual graduation rate of 95% or better.  Our student behavior process focuses on interventions well.  The district has two English Language Learning specialists, counselors at the intermediate, middle school, and high school, at least one social worker or psychologist at each building, and a dedicated Student Services Coordinator charged with providing families the resources necessary to help support students.  These supports come through educational programming and outreach connections with local and state agencies.

Hartland Consolidated Schools are grounded in our three foundational tenets of Reason, Respect, and Responsibility.  We are committed to ensuring that all students and adults are treated with civility and respect, and will not accept behaviors that are contrary to this expectation.  Accepting and embracing differences requires a community understanding that we all play a role in caring for each other.

I am honored to have the opportunity to work in this community and welcome all that choose to call Hartland home.  Feel free to contact our staff, administration, and Board of Education at any time with concerns or accolades.

Respectfully,
Chuck Hughes
Superintendent
