Red Cross Guard Class

Successful completion of the Red Cross Life Guard class qualifies you for a great flexible part-time job.  The class includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid.  You must be at least 15 years old by completion of the course.

You must be able to pass the prerequisites which include a 300 yard continuous swim with 100 yards of front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke, and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke.  The test is not timed.  You must demonstrate the ability to swim 20 yards, do a surface dive to retrieve an object from a depth of 7-10 feet and exit the water within 100 seconds.  Swimmers will be tested prior to the first day of class to confirm qualifications before registering for the class.

Attendance at all classes is mandatory.  Call Julie Hill, Pool Coordinator (810) 626-2279 to register and schedule pre-testing.  Class will be cancelled if minimum of 6 participants is not met.  Class maximum 12.  Successful completion of this course does not assure employment at the HCAFC.  Please be aware that we can only employ guards age 16 & older.
